ZIM vs BAN 2nd ODI

ZIM vs BAN 2nd ODI: Zimbabwe will play Bangladesh in the second ODI for a three-match ODI series after thrashing them for the first time in a T20I series. On August 7 at 12:30 pm, the second one-day international series will be contested at the Harare Sports Club. Following a 2-1 victory in the T20I series, Zimbabwe is more confident than ever that they can repeat their triumphs and claim their first ODI series victory against foreign opponents in 16 years.

Zimbabwe last defeated UAE in an ODI series in 2019. They have lost the majority of the ODIs since then. Zimbabwe’s lone victory in 6 ODIs this year came in January when they defeated Sri Lanka by 22 runs. They suffered a 3-0 home loss in the ODI series against Afghanistan.

This year, Bangladesh has won 3 ODI series. At home, they defeated Afghanistan 2-1. Bangladesh defeated South Africa in South Africa for the first time in March, winning the series 2-1. After this enormous victory, they easily defeated the West Indies 3-0 at home. Bangladesh is in second place in the points table with 120 points after 18 games as the race for ICC World Cup qualifying heats up. Nearly qualified, then!

Last year, Bangladesh traveled to Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series. They triumphed in every game. Shakib Al Hasan won the Man of the Series award after taking 8 wickets in the series with an average of 14.75 and adding 145 runs with the bat.

ZIM vs BAN: Team overview

Bangladesh

Litton Das, who has been on fire this year in all forms, is someone who captains Tamim Iqbal needs to consider starting with. In 9 ODIs, Das has scored 419 runs at an average of 52.37. This year, he has one century and two half-centuries. To help Bangladesh win the series against South Africa, the duo put up a partnership of 127 runs. Additionally, Iqbal has 277 runs at 39.57 in 9 ODIs.

With Mahamdullah and Afif Hossain at the top, Bangladesh will face challenges. Both have season averages above 40 and have amassed 369 runs in just 7 innings. When it comes to ODIs, Shakib Al Hasan cannot be disregarded. The man of the series from Bangladesh’s most recent tour of Zimbabwe has 155 runs over 6 games. Also, he has 1549 runs total versus Zimbabwe, including 3 centuries and 8 half-centuries. The all-around player has also proven deadly with the ball when playing the host. His contribution to the team is demonstrated by his 82 wickets in 48 games at an economy of 3.93.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be the bowling attack’s captain. In nine games this year, Miraz has taken 16 wickets for an economy of slightly over 5. Additionally, he bats with an average of 80 and has 160 runs in 6 innings. For pace, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam will be the options. In 8 games, both have taken 23 wickets. Mustafizur Rahman, who has represented Bangladesh in all of this year’s ODIs, will have a chance to demonstrate his bowling ability. In 9 games, the left-arm bowler has only taken 7 wickets.

Zimbabwe

Wesley Madhevere and Innocent Kaia will lead Zimbabwe’s opening act. In the most recent series, Kaia made his debut against Afghanistan and finished with 118 runs in 3 games. This year, Madhevere hasn’t been in great shape. Just 52 runs in 5 ODIs might expose him at the top. With their experience, Craig Irvine and Sean Williams at the top will bring stability. Irvine, the captain, has 162 runs in 6 innings, while Williams has 154 runs in 3 games including a century.

For more than a year, Zimbabwe has been supported by its middle order. In 6 games, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva, and Ryan Burl have amassed 479 runs in the middle. In the ODI series against Afghanistan and the current T20I series against Bangladesh, Raza led Zimbabwe in runs scored. Zimbabwe’s pace assault will be led by Muzarbani and Tendai Chatara together with Tanaka Chivanga. In six games this year, Muzarbani has taken 12 wickets for an economy of 5.11. After taking six wickets at an economy rate of 5.11 in the previous series, Richard Nagarva should be given a chance.

ZIM vs BAN – Match winner prediction

Zimbabwe’s confidence has been greatly increased by their victory in the T20I series. But when it comes to the ODI format, they are no match for Bangladesh. Since 2006, Bangladesh has defeated Zimbabwe in 14 straight one-day international series. Additionally, they have won the last five ODI series. Bangladesh has 12 victories in their previous 15 ODI matches. Zimbabwe has just one victory over it in the last six ODIs. Therefore our prediction for the second ODI winner would be Zimbabwe.
