Alex Hales Explains Why he pulled Out Himself from IPL

Alex Hales

British opener Alex Hales withdrew himself from IPL 2022 Season due to bubble fatigue. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad after being bought for Rs 1.2 crore in the mega auction of IPL 2022.

Alex Hales participated in Big Bash League where he was infected by covid-19. Since then, he was been extremely feared by bio-bubbles. He is afraid that the situation might repeat if he plays IPL this season.

In a tweet, Alex Hales explained why he pulled out himself from IPL. He said that he is extremely sad to announce that he is withdrawing from the upcoming IPL. He has spent the last 4 months away from home in restrictive bio-bubbles. And doing timely COVID tests was tough for him. He is not in a situation to follow all the rules of bio-bubble.

Alex Hales Tweeted his Statement

Although Alex Hales will be missing a chance to play in the biggest T20 league in the world. His decision was appreciated by other cricketers. He also thanked his franchise for being supportive during these tough times.

“I want to thank Kolkata Knight Riders for believing in me during the auction” Alex added in the tweet

He thinks that it wouldn’t be fair on the team or himself if he won’t be able to perform to the expected level. He prefers to miss out on one of the best opportunities of his career rather than playing with fear in bubble fatigue.

Hales was replaced by Aaron Finch in the KKR’s Squad. KKR bought him for 1.5 crores. Earlier his British teammate Jason Roy quit from the upcoming IPL season and gave the same reason as hales.

He has taken a break from cricket and will focus on his mental well-being. Similar to what Ben Stokes did last year before returning to England Squad for Ashes.
