History

PSL (Pakistan Super League) is a T20 Cricket League stabilized on 9 September 2015. The PSL’s official logo was launched on 20 September 2015 in a ceremony in Lahore attended by retired and current cricketers and celebrities and was revealed by 3Di. The first PSL match was played on 4 February 2016 in the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan Super League is the single entity where each team is owned and controlled by investors, at first it consisted of five teams but now it has six franchises and each franchise is named after a city of Provinces and Federal Capital of Pakistan

Format

PSL format consists of a Double Round-Robin format where each team plays every other team twice. At the end of the format, based on an aggregate point, the top 4 teams Qualifies for the Playoffs. In this method, the Top two teams on a point table compete with each other as a Qualifier 1 and the Other two teams compete as an Eliminator. The winner of the Qualifier directly goes to the Finals and the losing team will play with the Eliminator team to get another chance to qualify for the final match.

Teams

First, two seasons of the Pakistan Super League consist of five teams then later on after a long debate Multan Sultans has joined the remaining five teams. Currently, Pakistan Super League Consists of six teams which are as Follow
• Islamabad United (owned by Leonine Global Sports)
• Karachi Kings (owned by ARY Group)
• Multan Sultans (owned by Ali Khan Tareen & Alamgir Khan Tareen)
• Quetta Gladiators (owned by Omar Associates)
• Peshawar Zalmi (owned by Haier Pakistan)
• Lahore Qalandars (owned by Qatar Lubricants Company)

Islamabad United is the most successful franchise in this league, named the title twice while Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi won only once.
Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultan are still finding luck to crown for a title.

Venues

Due to the securities reason, the first season of PSL was played in the United Arab Emirates on following Venues
• Dubai International Cricket Stadium
• Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium Abu Dhabi
• The Sharjah Cricket Stadium

In the next seasons, Onward PSL was gradually shifted to Pakistan, Where last season was entirely played in Pakistan on Local Venues, which shows Pakistan is a Safe Place for International Cricket
