Crazy eight card games is a renowned card game that is enjoyed by kids and adults. The game can be played by any number of players between 2 to 8, whereas adding more players to the game will add more excitement to game.

This card game has various versions as well as several other names. It is also known as Rockaway, switch, Swedish Rummy, and much more. Some English players call Crazy eight card games Black jack, many times people get confused and think that this game is similar to the American card game Blackjack.

How to play Crazy Eight Card Games (Crazy 8)

In the simple form, two players will receive seven cards each from the standard deck of 52 if the players are more than two each player will get 5 cards from the two decks of 104 cards the remaining cards are dealt facedown, with the first card flipped up to start the discard pile. If the first card in the hand is a number 8 card then it is “buried” in the cards kept in the center and the following card is drawn from it.

The player sitting left to the dealer will start the game, each player adds a card face up to the discard pile of cards. Either by rank or suit, every card being played must be equal or the uppermost card in the discard pile. All 8 cards are wild cards and can be used at any moment and the player who uses them can nominate any suit for the next player to follow. When the last card from any player is revealed or when no one can equal the last card the game is over.

Tips and tricks to play Crazy Eight Card Games

1. If you play an eight, you could either choose the suit in which you have the most cards or pick a suit in which your opponent does not have any. You can pick a suit to which they had to pick a card.
2. Play a rank match before such a suit in most cases. However, consider this based on the suits you have.

Types of Crazy Eight Card Games

1. A player may play crazy eight card games in a set of matches by keeping score on a hand. At the end of each match, sum up the cards which the loser still has in his hand and give the points to the winner.
2. Generally, each face card like king or queen is worth 10 points, the basic value of the index cards for instance 6 points for a 6 numbered card 1 point for an ace but the player will get 50 points for 8 numbered card
3. Allow other players to continue removing more than one card in every turn.
4. If you play joker then the following player’s turn is skipped. If you play joker when there are only two players in the game then you get an extra turn.
5. You can use the reverse card to change the game’s direction. A queen is often used as the reverse card.
