Everyone’s is curious to know who will be the Captain of Punjab kings as they are struggling to win their first-ever IPL Champions title, unfortunately, the Punjab kings failed to qualify for the playoffs last season, and it is disappointing to know that in their 14 years of IPL journey only twice they have finished in the top four.

Ahead of the 2021 IPL season Management of Kings XI Punjab expressed their disappointment over the franchise for not being able to win the championship title so the management decided to rebrand their franchise name and expected a fresh start.

KL Rahul was appointed as the Captain of Punjab Kings for a fresh start and he did his level best to take the team into finals, unfortunately, things never worked in his favor but his overall individual performance as a skipper, the batsman was outstanding team management was quite impressed by his performance but it was his decision to jump into Mega auctions of IPL 2022.

As KL Rahul has joined Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings is looking for a capable skipper who can get them their first champion’s title, and with this intention, they will get into auctions. They have retained only two Indian players and have the biggest purse value available among all the teams.

Here is a list of players who can be the captain of Punjab Kings in IPL 2022

Mayank Agarwal

Along with KL Rahul, he is the player who has been consistently performing Punjab Kings and will be one of the probable nominees for the Captain of Punjab Kings. Probably Mayank Agarwal would be the first option as the franchise has already retained him for Rs 12 crores.

Mayank Agarwal is a talented opener who often plays aggressively and scores a bulk of runs which can motivate the team. Moreover, Mayank Agarwal has led the team in the absence of KL Rahul and proved his leadership qualities. He is a quick learner and can learn the game and make decisions according to the game.

The franchise is not too confident about Mayank Agarwal’s captaincy skills that’s the reason they will wait till the auction to announce their captain.

David Warner

David Warner was appointed as the Captain of Sunrises Hyderabad. During the 2021 IPL season, he had a fallout with the franchise due to which he was taken out of his captaincy and later on removed from the team the reason for the fallout was his poor performance with the bat. But in the very next ICC T20 World Cup 2021 David warner came back with his performance and became the player of the tournament.

Apart from scoring runs for the team David Warner is a great Captain During his captaincy Sunrisers Hyderabad won their only IPL title, his win percentage as a captain is also encouraging, he has a win percentage of 52. He is all set to be the Captain of Punjab kings and the franchise will definitely consider his services and value his past contributions.

Eoin Morgan

The other captaincy option would be Eoin Morgan England’s limited-overs skipper and he has all those qualities that Punjab kings are looking for in their new captain. He was amazing with his captaincy in the last IPL although his batting performance was not so impressive.

He was the mastermind to raise Kolkata Knight Riders from bottom to the runners-up in IPL 2021 moreover he took his National team to ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Semifinals. Though his IPL stats aren’t impressive, his T20I Stats would make him a valuable player during IPL auctions.

Eoin Morgan has represented Punjab Kings in the past and there is a high possibility that he would come back as Captain of Punjab kings.

Shreyas Iyer

Former Skipper of Delhi Capitals Shreyas Iyer was not retained after his release he expressed his desire to take up the leadership role in the IPL and he can be an ideal candidate for Captain of Punjab kings nobody can deny his past contribution to his team and played a vital role both as a captain and as a batsman.

Shreyas Iyer was ruled out on the first half of the IPL 2021 due to a shoulder injury, however, he recovered and played the second half and in 8 matches he scored 175.

The major reason for Punjab King’s failure is that they were fully dependent on their openers (KL Rahul & Mayank Agarwal) Shreyas Iyer can strengthen Punjab King’s middle order and could make things in favor of them.

Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch would be the perfect replacement for the former captain of Punjab kings KL Rahul, he is one of the best players in T20 cricket he was the first player to reach 900 points on the official ICC T20I rankings, his IPL career is also fascinating he has played for various teams in previous seasons.

The Aaron Finch is a successful captain he recently led his national team to the finals of T20I and won the champion’s title in the past Aaron Finch played for Punjab kings and now the franchise would be excited to sign him once again as the Captain of Punjab Kings.
