T20 World Cup 2022 – The current champions

The tournament currently regards Australia as the reigning champion of the ICC T20 World Cup. Australia won its very first Twenty20 World Cup championship after defeating New Zealand by 7 wickets in the final match of the previous year’s tournament.

Recent events have shown India to have struggled to perform at its peak, as they were unable to even make it to the final of the recently held Asia Cup 2022. In the super four round, the team captained by Rohit Sharma had gone under back-to-back defeats at the hands of Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which led to their exit from the fight for a spot in the championship match.

T20 World Cup 2022 – Throwback to Asia Cup 2022

After claiming victory over Pakistan in the tournament’s championship match, Sri Lanka has been crowned the winner of the Asia Cup 2022. A Twenty20 International series will be conducted between India and both Australia and South Africa before the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2022.

T20 World Cup 2022 – India Squad (Key Players)

Deepak Hooda

Another member of the team that wields a bolter is Hooda. After having a breakout season with the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, during which he scored 451 runs at a strike rate of 136.66, he also played his maiden game for India that same year (2022). In international cricket, where his sample size is less (nine innings as opposed to 14 in the most recent IPL), he has managed to raise that strike rate to 155.85, despite the fact that the sample size was lower.

It’s possible that India’s loss of Ravindra Jadeja due to a knee ailment made it necessary for them to bring in Hooda as well.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel has been given the responsibility of leading the left-arm spinners in the squad, although it is not yet clear whether or not this will result in his being selected for the India XI. The team management felt that Hooda’s batting talent was superior to that of Axar’s during the Asia Cup, which is where Jadeja suffered his injury.

Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik, on the other hand, has forced the selectors to make his “dream come true” by taking his game as a finisher to an entirely new level. He has taken his game to a new level by adopting the following steps:

In the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2022, when he was just starting to make his case for inclusion, he had a death-overs strike rate of 220. Only Jos Buttler (236.53) performed significantly better than the other batsmen who faced at least 50 balls between overs 17 and 20.

Karthik has shown flairs of the same caliber while playing for India, most notably against the West Indies in July, when he came in to bat in the 15th over, with the score only 127 for 5, and carried it up to 190 for 6, which was a victory for India. The 37-year-old batsman, who hadn’t appeared in any Twenty20 Internationals between February 2019 and June 2022, will now compete in his third T20 World Cup. He is one of a select few players still active who participated in the tournament’s first iteration all the way back in 2007.

Hardik Pandya

Though his form in Asia Cup 2022 was questionable in terms of consistency, Hardik Pandya can be a huge asset for India in the T20 World Cup 2022. He, at times, can shine with both bat and the ball to save the nation from collapsing during crucial times.

T20 World Cup 2022 – India ahead of the World Cup

India will play host to Australia in a Twenty20 International series consisting of three matches before moving on to play South Africa in a Twenty20 International and One-Day International series.

India has announced their teams for the two Twenty20 Internationals that they will play. These matches will serve as a warm-up for all three teams. Shami and Chahar have been selected for India’s squads for both of these upcoming series, while Arshdeep has been rested. Both Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will not play in any of the Twenty20 Internationals that take place against South Africa.

It has not been decided which players will represent the team in the one-day internationals versus South Africa.
