New Zealand-Bangladesh Test Series Postponed Amid Covid-19

    Just when we were believing that sports are coming back on track, we have got the news that Bangladesh’s upcoming Test series against New Zealand in August-September has been postponed to a later day.

BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury in a press release as quoted “In the present COVID-19 pandemic scenario, hosting a full cricket series in August 2020 will be a challenge in terms of preparations and we cannot take chances with the safety and health of players, support staff and related stakeholders”.

“Under these circumstances, the BCB and NZC have felt that the best way forward would be to defer the series. BCB and NZC will now work on identifying a suitable time to reschedule the series, the report on dhakatribune.com, said.

Cricket is suspended in Bangladesh since March following the second Test against Pakistan in Karachi (April), Ireland and UK tour (May) and Australia’s tour of Bangladesh (June) and now the New-Zealand tour (Aug-Sep). Their tour to Sri Lanka, scheduled for July-August, is still in doubt.
New Zealand had also cancelled the Chappell-Hadlee series in March after one ODI. Their Europe tour (Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland) had also been postponed and a tour to the West Indies.

Earlier, Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza, Nafees Iqbal Pakistan crickter Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf and Haider Ali have been tested with Corona Virus.
