Former Star Sri Lankan pace bowler Lasith Malinga has been appointed as a fast bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2022. The League stage begins on 26^th March with the first clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Before the tournament gets started all the franchise are setting up their teams and coaching staff. Rajasthan Royals has done the same thing and roped Malinga. He is well known for his legendry contribution to Mumbai Indians.

RR’s tweet that confirms the return of Lasith Malinga to IPL

Earlier Rajasthan Royals gave a hint at the possibility by tweeting an edited picture of Indian player Riyan Parag with Malinga’s trademark curly afro hairstyle. Later Rajasthan Royals confirmed through a tweet that they have roped Malinga has joined them as bowling coach.

Malinga is glad that he returned to IPL “returning to IPL as a coach will give an amazing experience” he added. He also said that it is an honor to represent Rajasthan Royals as a coach. Malinga had some incredible experiences with Mumbai Indians and is excited to make new memories with the new franchise.

Sangakkara’s statement on Lasith Malinga

Sangakkara is the head coach of Rajasthan Royals. Kumara Sangakkara stated that Malinga is one of the greatest T20 fast bowlers of all time. Having a personality like him in the training field will motivate the young bowlers.

Sangakkara made the same statement on Upton. He said that Upton has been the fantastic coaching staff to the Rajasthan Royals. And he has been contributed to the franchise. Kumara Sangakkara thinks that Upton and Malinga can be an excellent addition to our coaching staff.

Sangakkara also added that he is excited to work with the new coaching staff and he hopes that their combination will lead the franchise to lift the IPL champion’s trophy.
